At Bos, we care about you and your company. We specialize in hydraulic piston rod customization, material selection, and manufacturing, and provide exceptional service tailored to your needs.

The fundamental role of a Solid Piston Rod is to act as the critical link between the actuator and the load, converting fluid power into precise linear motion. This function subjects the rod to a complex combination of forces—including high tension, compression, bending, and shock loads—all while maintaining a perfect seal within the cylinder. Recognizing these demands, our manufacturing process begins with the meticulous selection of high-strength, low-alloy steels. These materials are chosen for their superior mechanical properties, which we further enhance through controlled thermal processes like quenching and tempering. This treatment creates a robust microstructure that provides an exceptional balance between a hard, wear-resistant surface and a tough, ductile core capable of absorbing impact energy without permanent deformation. The result is a Solid Piston Rod with inherent resistance to bending, cracking, and fatigue failure.

Our commitment to excellence is most evident in the subsequent stages of finishing and coating. Each rod undergoes precision grinding to achieve near-perfect geometric accuracy, ensuring critical straightness and concentricity. This foundational precision is paramount for minimizing friction and uneven seal wear. Following this, we apply our signature hard chrome plating, a process we have refined to an art. The deposited chrome layer is exceptionally dense, uniform, and adherent, providing a synergistic combination of extreme surface hardness and a very low coefficient of friction. This surface treatment is the primary defense against abrasive wear, corrosive attack from harsh environments, and chemical degradation from hydraulic fluids or external contaminants. For applications requiring even greater corrosion resistance, such as in marine environments or the food and beverage industry, we offer Solid Piston Rods manufactured from martensitic stainless steels, which provide inherent protection while maintaining high strength.

This can be caused by insufficient oil pressure, internal leakage, or excessive resistance. Check for low oil pressure, internal leaks at seals , or the piston rod being subject to excessive lateral loads
Ensure the axis of the hydraulic cylinder is aligned with the movement direction. The load should act along the cylinder axis to avoid eccentricity, which can cause premature wear and seizure
Seals can leak due to folding, squeezing, tearing, wear, aging, or deterioration. In such cases, the seal should be replaced
